As one of the leading UK occasionwear labels for more than 30 years, Ann Balon has been making women feel confident, elegant and glamorous on their special day.

Her business started by chance on a holiday on the Amalfi coast in Italy where she was captivated not only by the spectacular scenery and good food but also by the region’s precious lace materials and intricate dressmaking techniques. She decided to create her own fashion label and a set up a studio in the hills above Positano from where her creations are shipped to select boutiques around the world.

Observing traditional dressmaking practices, experienced seamstresses craft Ann Balon outfits from the finest lace. Fabrics are hand-cut, batch-dyed and uniquely textured by means of stone-washing with light porous pumice from Mount Vesuvius.

The whole production process is extremely painstaking, using artisanal techniques with hand crafted applique work which result in classic romantic pieces that enhance the figure of the woman she is dressing.

Ann Balon’s timeless exquisite designs are also used in her range for the fuller figure. Her soft Italian style tailoring and delicate lace, complemented by eye-catching embellishments and subtle design details, both flatter and add flair.

Skirts are fitted with discreet elasticated waistbands, dresses are lined with cool, lightweight slips and jackets or full length coats are added to finish off her elegant outfits.

Ann Balon’s designs are not only perfect for that special occasion in your life, but are designed with versatility in mind so that they can be separated and teamed with your other favourites to create a variety of highly individual looks appropriate for any event. Her newest addition are glamorous and beautiful fully lined headscarves that can be ordered to match any of her designs, suitable for attending any occasion.

The business is a family affair with Ann, husband George and daughter Debra all involved.
